Birdcatcher Esmar and his wife Johanna face eviction from their farm in Gásadalur unless they have a son. Desperation sets in when Johanna gives birth to their third daughter. Pushed to the brink, Johanna is impregnated by another man, a French Captain, and gives birth to a son, known as ‘the birdcatcher’s son’. Everything seems perfect until the French Captain returns.。上世纪六十年代初，中国遭受了严重自然灾害，草原上的牧民收养了来自上海等地的三千多名孤儿。牧民称这些孤儿为“国家的孩子”，像对待自己的孩子一样精心抚养。在内蒙古自治区成立70周年纪念之际，以此事件为题材，由内蒙古自治区新闻出版广电局出品，北京伯璟文化传播有限公司承制三集纪录片《梦中的额吉》来记录这一事件。。
