汤玛斯一家四口搬到了澳洲一个小城镇。父亲是当地驻军军官，母亲怀孕，而最让汤玛斯头疼的是他有一个傻哥哥。由于搬家的缘故，汤玛斯也来到了新的学校，学习做游泳救生员。在这里，他认识美丽的女同学洁姬。洁姬虽然生长在单亲家庭，却生性开朗。在逐渐的接触中汤玛斯与洁姬互相产生了好感，给汤玛斯带来生活的动力。。Volker Schlöndorff transposes Bertolt Brecht’s late-expressionist work to latter-day 1969. Poet and anarchist Baal lives in an attic and reads his poems to cab drivers.
