The story of a young woman who is on top of the world when she gets engaged to her perfect boyfriend, until a doctor’s appointment changes everything。凌燕子（王苏娅饰）原本是要嫁到凤凰岛去作新媳妇，但在结婚途中发现副业队长崔民正在非法倒卖尼龙丝线。她毫不犹豫地揭露了他的行为，但公公郭老大却认为崔民是在为集体增加收入，支持他用船来跑运输。到了凤凰岛后，凌燕子得到了公社周书记的支持，承担起养殖队长的责任，勇敢地种植海带，建造海上大寨田。 然而，崔民却勾结渔霸小老婆孙金环的堂兄弟，策划了以鲜鱼换机器的阴谋，企图破坏凌燕子的养殖队。凌燕子及时揭露了崔民的诡计，并在政治夜校上发动群众批判了他的资本主义倾向。崔民为了达到目的，鼓动渔民“赶小海”，甚至故意破坏了养殖船。但凌燕子并没有放弃，她耐心地教育了公公郭老大，帮助水曼子划清了与崔民的界限。最终，水曼子揭发了丈夫崔民破坏养殖船的罪行，群情激愤，崔民的罪行被彻底揭露和批判。在阶级斗争的教育下，崔民被挖出了真面目，而海上种植也取得了成功，凌燕子的努力最终带来了...。This is a brilliant surrealistic film.
