As his parents' marriage unravels, Tate finds solace in the unlikely friendships of his new next door neighbors: a retired African-American college professor and his transgender daughter, Gossamer.。火星に赴任してきた刑事 ロス・シリバスは到着早々、カントリー歌手のケリー・マッキャノンが殺害される事件に巻き込まれる。そして、その遺体の分析結果からある事実が判明する。殺害されたのは人間ではなく、セカンドの水準を超える非合法の存在サードであったことが判明する。ロスはアミテージと共にこの事件を追うことになる。そして、その先にサードに纏わる事実も徐々にその姿を現す。。
